In most cases, TeraCopy made a small but noticeable improvement to the copy time.īear in mind that the XP and Vista machines above are not identical-the Vista machine has a more powerful CPU, faster RAM, and a much faster hard drive. The last test was a single 1GB file (a game resource file, not that it matters). The second is just under 1GB of various work files, ranging from small Word. The first test is about 1.4GB of music files, primarily high-bitrate MP3s and WMAs, with album art and the like. I copied different sets of files from a source folder to a destination folder on the same drive. I did a little unscientific performance testing of my own on a pair of machines-one older Windows XP box with a somewhat slow hard drive, and a much newer and more powerful Vista machine with a faster hard drive. ![]() ![]() The new features are nice, but TeraCopy also promises to increase performance by dynamically adjusting buffer sizes during the copy procedure and asynchronously copying files to different drives. ![]()
